Section 2 Structural Members in Cargo Oil Spaces


201. Longitudinal strength

The section modules of the hull for the midship part of the tank barges is not to be less than that specified in Ch 4, 101. increased by 3 percent.


202. Thickness of members

The thickness of structural members in cargo oil spaces is to be in accordance with the following:

(1) The thickness of shell plating is to be as required in Ch 5. But the thickness of shel1 plating obtained from the formula in 302., 304. and 402. is to be increased by 0.5 mm above that.

(2) The thickness of upper deck plating is to be as required in Ch 6. But the thickness of upper deck plating obtained from the formula in 301. is to be increased by 0.5 mm above that.

(3) The thickness of webs of girders is to be increased by 1 mm above that obtained from the rele-

vant formula.

(4) The thickness of bulkhead platings is to comply with the requirements in Ch 15. However, in no case are the requirements in Ch 15, 205. to be applied.


203. Scantlings of members

The section modulus of bottom longitudinals, side longitudinals, longitudinal beams, transverse gird- ers, bulkhead stiffeners and longitudinal girders in cargo oil spaces are not to be less than 1.1 times that of obtained from the formula in Ch 21. image
