APPLICATION OF THE GUIDANCE

This "Guidance Relating to the Rules for the Classification of Mobile Offshore Drilling Units" (hereafter called as the Guidance) is prepared with the intent of giving guidelines as to the treatment of the various provisions for items required the unified interpretations and items not specified in details in the Rules, and the requirements specified in the Guidance are to be applied, in principle, in addition to the various provi- sions in the Rules.

As to any technical modifications which can be regarded as equivalent to any requirements in the Guidance, their flexible application will be prop- erly considered.
