101. Collision bulkheads See Guidance

The barges are to have a collision bulkhead located between 0.05Ã and 0.08Ã from the fore side of stem on the load line. However, in barges of 90 m and under in length, the maximum distance from the fore side of stem may be 0.13Ã .


102. After peak bulkheads

The barges are to have an after peak bulkhead situated at a suitable position.


103. Hold bulkheads

The barges are to have hold bulkheads so as to make the spacing of adjacent bulkheads to be un- der 30 m as possible, in addition to the bulkheads specified in 101. and 102.


104. Height of watertight bulkheads

The watertight bulkheads required in 101. to 103. are to extend to the freeboard deck with the following exceptions:

(1) Where a forecastle having openings without closing appliances led to a space below the free-

board deck is provided, or where a forecastle of 0.25Ã or above in length is provided, the col- lision bulkhead is to extend up to the forecastle deck. However, the extended part above the freeboard deck may be provided within the limit of bulkhead position specified in l01. and may be weathertight.

(2) The aft peak bulkhead may terminate at a deck below the freeboard deck and above the load line, provided that this deck is made watertight to the stern of the barge.


105. Chain lockers

Chain lockers located abaft the collision bulkhead or in the fore peak tank are to be watertight and to be provided with means for effective drainage by pumps.
