Section 6 Motion Sensing System

601. General

Vessel motions represent a potential hazard to helicopter operations. Surface units should be equip- ped with an electronic motion-sensing system capable of measuring or calculating the magnitude and rate of pitch roll and heave at the helideck about the true vertical datum. A motion-sensing system display should be located at the aeromobile VHF radiotelephone station provided in accord- ance with MODU Code Ch 11, 11.6, so that this information may be relayed to the helicopter pilot. The form of the report should be agreed with the aeronautical service provider.
